Samsung and LG have always been competing against each other in their home country, South Korea, and the fact that both companies released a smartphone with a curved display around the same time shows the extent of that competition. Now, the competition is reportedly heading to China for both companies, as each looks to court consumers in the country with the launch of its first LTE mobile networks.
China currently holds 25 percent of the global smartphone market, and the launch of LTE networks – expected to take place sometime in 2014 – will make it even more important than it is at this moment. According to a report, Samsung and LG have partnered with China Mobile, the world’s biggest mobile operator, to deliver their products to consumers, in order to get a better chance at leading the charge in the huge global share that the Chinese mobile market currently holds.
For now, Samsung surely has a better chance of being that leader, though we’ll have to wait and see what happens after a few months. China is an important market for every manufacturer today, and where Samsung and LG stand will be revealed in the not too distant future.
