The patent wars shall never end it seems. Reuters reports that the Rockstar Consortium, an organization formed to negotiate licensing for patents acquired from bankrupt Nortel and jointly owned by Apple, Microsoft, BlackBerry, Ericsson, Sony and EMC Corporation, has sued Samsung, Google, and other Android companies for infringing some of the Nortel patents that the consortium bought back in 2011.
Samsung is accused of infringing seven patents related to graphical user interfaces, messaging, and notifications, among other issues. ”While we haven’t yet been served with this complaint, we continue to advocate for patent reform that would address the current flood of patent litigation,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement, while Samsung and others are yet to comment officially on the matter.
